The Cà d'Zan as seen from the bay.
Ca' d'Zan: the Ringling's fabled winter residence - designed to evoke the glory of Venetian Gothic palaces - was completed in 1926 and soon became the jazz-age epicenter of Sarasota's cultural life.
Constructed from terra cotta "T" blocks, concrete, and brick, covered with stucco and terra cotta, the Ca' d'Zan is embellished with glazed decorative tile, medallions, balustrades, and ornamental cresting in soft red, yellow, green, blue and ivory.
